Randy's Blog
January 9th, 2009Here is the link to my Gallery
My name is Randy Griggs I am from the state of Kansas.
Back in July of 2008 my wife (Janet) and I bought a Nikon D-80 from Wolfe's Camera in Topeka Kansas, yes I could have bought one cheaper online, but I feel that the local camera shops need support. Now I'm not saying that I don't buy online, but when I get a chance I like to support local businesses.
I have gone a little nuts at buying equipment. Listed below is what I have so far.
Nikon D-80 body
Nikon 18-55mm kit lens 52mm filter size
Nikon 70-300mm vr lens 67mm filter size
Nikon 105mm f/2 Prime lens 72mm filter size
Nikon 50mm f/1.8 Prime lens 52mm filter size
Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 lens 77mm filter size
Nikon SB-800 Speed lights (Quantity 3)
Nikon SB-600 Speed light (Quantity 1)
When I got my Speed lights Nikon was in the process of discontinuing the 800 series, moving people to the more expensive 900 series. I am perfectly happy with my 800's especially for the price difference. I had originally ordered 3 of them from www.adorama.com when I heard they were going to be discontinued. I no sooner got them ordered I received an email telling me they were back ordered, I thought to myself "Oh Great" now I will never get them. So I proceeded to go over to www.bhphotovideo.com and looked for them on their site, low and behold they were still in stock, so guess what -- I ordered 3 of them, canceled adoramas order now I am a happy camper.
My hope is that in the future I will be good enough to shoot portrait picutres to make a little mad money.
I will post some pictures when I get a chance.
Janet's interest is showing dogs in Agility. Most shows are held in old horse arenas which by the way the lighting is terrible, that is the reason for the fast lenses.
More to come.
Firmware Updated
March 30th, 2009I just updated the Firmware on my D-80 from 1.10 to 1.11. Nikon has very good instructions on how to do this. Went off with out a hitch.
